The final due date for this assignment is January 18th, 2017, 11:59PM HOL time. Please send all assignments to [email protected] with the subject line "HW3 - [Your HOL ID]" for homework and "EC3 - [Your HOL ID]" for the extra credit (they MUST be sent in separately). So if I were sending mine in, they would say "HW3 - iv823" and "EC3 -iv823" in the subject line. Please also include your name, house, and HOL ID at the top of your e-mail. I need this info to give you your hard-earned points, so double check that it's there! I will NOT accept attachments - please send your entire assignment in the body of the e-mail, or else I won't grade it. If you have any questions or need help with anything, please don't hesitate to send me a HOL message (my ID is iv823) or find me on IRC. I am always happy to help! Failure to format the assignments correctly (i.e., as outlined above) will result in a warning the first time, and a 2 point penalty for all other instances!

Option 4: Puzzle!
Complete the following puzzle, take a screenshot, upload it to a picture-hosting website (like Photobucket or tinypic), and send me the direct link!
Option 1) What's Your Take?
Choose ONE of the topics below and discuss your opinion/do some research on it! (150 words minimum)
- In the lesson we discussed that Lord Voldemort created a whopping seven horcruxes! What were Lord Voldemort's seven horcruxes, how were they created, how were they protected, and how/by whom were they destroyed?
- Cursed books are very popular dark items because they are so convenient and inconspicuous, but they aren't the only things that can be cursed! We discussed a couple common cursed objects in the lesson, but I'd like you to come up with your own! Describe what your cursed object is/looks like, what its curse(s) are/what it does, and who it targets. You can choose one of the objects mentioned in the lesson if you want (e.g., books, necklaces, quills), but make sure the curse placed on it is unique! You could also come up with an idea for a dark potion; again, describe what it looks like, how you make it or what the key ingredients are, and what it does.
- The Hand of Glory is one of the many things J.K. Rowling "made her own" while writing Harry Potter, meaning it existed in folklore and mythology before it was part of the Potter universe. Interestingly, the Opal Necklace also reminded me of a mythological rock I'd once read about, called "Sessho-seki". For this prompt, you can research either of these artifacts or any other cursed object you may have heard of/can stumble across and tell me about it! Be advised that some legends or tales of cursed objects can be quite dark or scary, so be cautious while researching and carefully consider if this is an option you're really up for.
- If you were to create a horcrux, what would you select as the container, and why? What kind of protection would you set up for it? Do you have a plan in place for the non-corporeal soul and your "resurrection", should you die, or no?
Option 2) Get Creative!
Choose ONE of the options below and draw a picture/create a graphic/make any other kind of artistic representation of the subject. Points will be given for EFFORT and CREATIVITY - don't fret about the quality!
- Create an image of any of Lord Voldemort's horcruxes or of what you would make a horcrux (please tell me what the image is).
- Create a cover for Secrets of the Darkest Art or Sonnets of a Sorcerer. You could also create a sample page from Secrets of the Darkest Art or a recipe for one of the dark potions we discussed. Use your imagination!
- Create an image of any of the cursed objects or dark potions mentioned, making sure to include a title/brief description of your picture so I know what it is.
Option 3) Fill-in-the-Blank
Fill in the blanks from the lesson below. Each blank or cluster of blanks is worth 2 points. Spaces indicate the number of words. The lengths of the blanks do not necessarily represent the length of the words.

"The purpose of horcrux creation is, essentially, to ______ ______."
